the day my dad gave me the world
April 8, 2006 by johnwar8
well, my dad really didn’t give me the world, but on that day, it seemed like he did. that special day happened when i was about five or six. i don’t know if it was my birthday; all i can remember is that on that day, my dad told me to take a nap and promised that he’d have a surprise for me after i woke up. never in my wild imagination did it occur to me that that surprise would have a lasting impact in my life.
actually, dad’s plan was very simple. after i had my nap, he took me to a movie theater, then he bought me chocolate biscuits. it may seem so "babaw" but it definitely gave me a natural high. i was ecstatic about it because i had dad for myself the whole afternoon. never mind that i barely understood the movie. never mind that the chocolate biscuits he bought me didn’t really taste that good. what mattered was that dad chose to spend his time with me.
until now, i really do not know what i could have done to deserve that treat from dad. one thing is for sure though: on that day that he seemingly gave me the world, he made me realize how special and loved i am and that i do not have an excuse to screw up my life.
thanks for that dad!
